When I run Colcon build my applications build succeeds but once I submit my Quiz for evaluation the Grade Bot fails because of a build error. If I then run Colcon build my application throughs errors and is unable to build. I have tried multiple fixes but non seems to work and only have two attempts left. My applications also runs as needed.
It the actions quiz unit 7.9

@malcolm-maurice.holm
This is happening because `actions_quiz_msg` is not properly set up as a dependency of `actions_quiz`.

When properly set up, `actions_quiz_msg` would be compiled first (if not already compiled) when you try to compile `actions_quiz`.

It worked locally for you because you are manually compiling `actions_quiz_msg` before compiling `actions_quiz`, but it should work as described above.

When you submit to the gradebot, it removes the compilation directories and tries to compile again. This is normal behavior; it was designed to detect dependency problems like this one. It also helps to detect when an unapproved package was used for the quiz.

I’m adding two more attempts for you to resolve this dependency issue, which is crucial part of building ROS-based applications.

Good day @bayodesegun
Thank you for the reply. Do I understand correctly that when you compile package actions\_quiz should package actions\_quiz\_msg compile also( both with the same bash script colcon build --packages etc) ?

I have actions\_quiz\_msg as a packages in the cmake and package.xml. Is this what you are refering to?

Thank you for the support

Good day @malcolm-maurice.holm

I meant that when you try to compile `actions_quiz` alone, it should trigger the compilation of `actions_quiz_msg`. That’s how you know that `actions_quiz_msg` has been properly set up as a dependency of `actions_quiz`.
