# Unit 4 : fatal error: geometry\_msgs/Twist: No such file or directory

Hi !

I am studying ROS1 course. I am stuck with this error message when i build with catkin\_make :

fatal error: geometry\_msgs/Twist: No such file or directory  
1 | #include \<geometry\_msgs/Twist\>

I also have included the dependency in package.xml

also i have added the required lines in Cmakelists :

find_package(catkin REQUIRED COMPONENTS
  roscpp
  std_msgs
  geometry_msgs
)

# LIBRARIES topic_publisher_pkg
# CATKIN_DEPENDS roscpp std_msgs

)

)

)

I also have confirmed that geometry\_msgs is in the system path

here is my code :

int main(int argc, char **argv) {

  ros::init(

  ros::Publisher pub = nh.advertise<geometry_msgs::Twist>(
      "cmd_vel", 1000); // Create a Publisher object, that will // publish on
                          // the /counter topic messages of type float64
  ros::Rate loop_rate(2); // Set a publish rate of 2 Hz

  geometry_msgs::Twist velocity; // Create a variable of type Int32
  velocity.linear.x = 0.5; // Initialize 'velocity' variable
  velocity.angular.z = 0;

  while (ros::ok()) // Create a loop that will go until someone stops the
                    // program execution
  {
    pub.publish(velocity); // Publish the message within the 'count' variable
    ros::spinOnce();

There’s a typo in your include. It should be:

```auto
#include <geometry_msgs/Twist.h>

```

The `.h` part was missing.
