BB8 is not showing up on simulation window? Do I have to download anything?
Just give it a little more time and continue working on the notebook in the meantime. The robot likes to play hide and seek.
Do I need to have a subscription for the robot to show up? I made a free account and then started doing this free course.

you don’t need a subscription to have access to the free courses.
If the simulation doesn’t appear, just give it some time and it will eventually appear.
The robot in this Linux course is a bit heavy, and this may cause it to be slower to download.
We are aware of this issue and soon it will be solved once for all. In the meantime, just give it some time and it will load.
