welcome to the community! It is always good to provide some context with your question. Are you trying to copy from the lesson text, from the terminal, from the IDE or some different place? I ask because each of these environments can have some methods that work on others that don’t.
In general to copy and paste you must select the text you want, and press Ctrl+C to copy. Switch to where you want to add that item, and press Ctrl+V to paste. This should work everywhere except the IDE. To copy files and folders inside the IDE use the right-click context menu to select copy and also paste.
If these general hints do not solve you problem you need to be more specific on your question and tell us where exactly you are experiencing a problem.
