I prefer using catkin tools rather than catkin_make for better readibility. We are starting to use the academy for training people in the lab and it would be beneficial for people to learn both. It seems all of the course content uses catkin_make. A short course/tutorial on catkin tools would be easy to create and would allow students to choose whatever works best for their own projects
