What is the best way for multi robot communication

Hi guys, I am currently subscribing my robot IO over ROS and monitor the change of IO for the robot communication. I wonder if there is a better way of doing it? Thank you!

It actually depends on the communication design topology that you choose.
Centralized or Decentralized, Inter-robot or Intra-robot, Custom Radio Freq or Wifi or Bluetooth or Wired (hopefully not), with a middleware or without a middleware, etc etc.
How many robots in your multi robot network?

It is better that you define your communication topology, so a suitable suggestion(s) can be provided to you (by me, as well as others).
